Today we hiked on some of the HOH River Trail. The total trail is 18 miles, we did about 3 miles in for a total of a 5.7 mile hike. We went out to the Mineral Creek Falls and also went by part of the river. We felt deep in the forest and enjoyed all the beauty, fresh air, etc. it had to offer.
These pics show the river and foggy mountains. I kept trying to imagine how big the river must seem when the riverbed is full of water. We also saw Glacial Dust, which we learned about in the Ranger talk. From rubbing of the glaciers the dust from the glaciers ends up in the river.
We saw more cool examples of Nurse logs along the HOH River Trail. It’s like each new nurse log creates its own new world. We also saw lots and lots and lots of Epiphytes (plants that grow on trees like moss).
Always enjoy a creek and fall. Each one is unique and I like thinking about how it found its way through cracks, etc. to get to be what we see.
Til next time…

Looks like a great hike! I bet the scent of all that is an enjoyable dimension.
