Coeur D’Alene - Day 2

Today we went back to the CDA Coffee Company.  Today’s treat was an apple turnover.  We then went for a bike ride along the Spokane River.  The nice thing about the area is we were able to go and park in the same public parking lot and do all of these activities from there.    We rode about 8 miles on the Centennial Trail.  There was a nice section through a park and along the water.  We then hit a section that was all houses on the river.  I can only imagine how much they cost.  When the trail looked like it was getting away from the river, we turned around.

We are getting better at the take our time lifestyle, so after the ride we had our picnic lunch and back to get some more Coconut explosion ice cream - yummy, yummy.   I just couldn’t help myself.

We then headed out to Higgins Point.  This ended up being somewhat of an adventure, as we followed the GPS.  Dave had picked Higgins Point Park figuring it was the park at the point.  Well, we followed this curvy road with a severe drop on one side for quite a ways, passed through some one lane construction and then ended up on a dirt road, which ended at a private property sign, not any kind of park.  So we backed up and turned around and ventured back to the turn off from the more major road.  On the way back the construction was gone, which we found odd since there was like 6 trucks there and we were less than a half hour.  We kept waiting to find the flag person and it didn’t happen.  We then went about 2 miles further on the “major road” and there was Higgins Point.  I had read you go to Higgins Point and there is a short hike to the view.  So I thought it was a hill point when it was actually a water edge point.  Just never know what your adventure will be.  Here are a couple picks from Higgins Point.

Our final stop of the day was a Life is Good store.  It is my favorite brand of t-shirt and the local mall had a whole store of Life is Good, usually it is just a section.  I was able to restrict myself to 3 new shirts.

I do have to say that the amount and quality of parks/bike trails we saw in Coeur D’Alene were impressive.

Tomorrow is a travel day to Winthrop, WA.

Our next adventure awaits.
