The Journey Begins

We packed up our home and left Pensacola this morning and headed to Greenville, Mississippi.

We are staying on the grounds of an 1857 Plantation home turned Bed and Breakfast.  We had drinks in one of the parlors and ended up speaking to the owner.  He was a traveling newscaster for 30 years, filling in for newscasters who were sick or on vacation.  He ended up in the B&B business kind of on a dare. When he was saying the travel was getting tiresome, a friend said there is 60 acres of farm land in Arkansas, see how you feel about working that.  So he bought it, turned it into a B&B and a Harvest Host.  He then sold that and bought this plantation B&B.  Funny how people end up in places.

We then had dinner overlooking the grounds.  We also had a visitor join us for the evening, much to Dave’s chagrin.

I will say, I enjoy the old houses with the attention to detail on everything and the workmanship of the furniture, etc.  This particular house had huge doors, as shown by comparing Dave to the height.

That’s it for today. Let’s see what tomorrow brings.
